Day 1 completed! I’m realy excited to try this, I’ve never done yoga before. I’m a little anxious about the pose at 3:30, but hopefully after a couple weeks i’ll be able to do it!!

  • basso28

Amazing, truly amazing. I am inspired.

  • Ashibee22

I never really thought that yoga could aid in weight loss but after trying this reoutine for the first time I can feel the effects already. I am very excited to begin this four week weight loss program. I love the idea that I dont have to be pooring sweat on a treadmill to feel the same effects as I do with this relaxing method! Thank you so much Tara! I am very excited to begin my new lifestyle change in weight loss.

  • aqatyt

I am new to yoga. And I am combining it with some other exercises, and this got my heart rate to the roof. It was great! Thanks Tara.

  • oxdeli

wow :| I just tried this, and I’m exhausted. This is so hard, but I’m gonna do it!

  • BrittanyGoeddert

i think ima do this by your guys comments ;D im skinny and i got a itty bitty belly pooch, and i wanna tone my whole body hopeufully this works(:

  • alqpetrova

Wow, I don’t ever recall sweating while doing a yoga workout, but with your 7 min video I actually did! The best thing is that my heart did not have to raise or anything and I still feel the workout! This is really good and I think I’ll try your 4 week challenge! I’m not currently aiming to loose weight but i was looking for a good home-workout to substitute my gym sessions. I’ll let you know if it had results by the end of the 4 weeks! Cheers and thank you for this video!

So am I doing this routine, three times a session or three times a week? With it being 8 min long, it is still effective?

  • bdubinlub

    This is awesome. Love it.

  • mywingsareyours

Jeez guys, shut up. She has routines for beginners. She never said this was for beginners.

  • JohnnyRizla

This is what my girlfriend needs to be doing. Wow.

  • MarijuanaMichelle

Hi Tara, I love these videos. Are you a vegan?

  • lgetya

Hi Great routine but at 5:16 the video freezes and can’t move forward. Can you repost it? Thanks really enjoyed to sequence. :)

  • shaleene

I think its too advance for beginners. I don’t think anyone can do this without months of practise. Try to show something realistic

  • StefStefan1989

Hi Tara! Why do you have christmas light in september? LOL

  • kindgurly

Tara, how do you expect beginners to be able to do these poses? These are way too hard!

  • zorazolia

hey I’ve been doing your routines. Is it okay to do yoga without matress? I don’t have one

  • reiibsbholic

This is so good. But to be honest, I cudn’t some difficult movements. Hope I cud do it soon:) thanks..

  • OnlyRula

Love this, enjoy my only show on youtube, ONLY Rula making fun of my inability to meditate and other parodies.

  • 420juggalette4life

i started yoga in high school gym class and kept doing after, just sun salutations and stuff. you have opened a whole nuther world of ways to open my body. my routine was getting stale and i have learned so much from you. i really appreciate the videos you post, thanks :)

  • chloeannmarie

Tara, it’s been a few weeks now since I started with your yoga routines. They’re great! But, my wrists have been sadly affected. My right is back to normal now, but my left might even be a little swollen and still sore. Any reason why that might be? Any advice?

  • hellokitty1494

I think I have FINALLY found a workout that works for me. Thanks, Tara! It’s been getting much easier after doing this for a week.

  • chloeannmarie

    Hi Tara!

This is a great workout so far! Thank you for posting these videos! However, I have a question, Is this only 3 times a week because our bodies need the day after to recover? I feel like I can do this everyday! I want to do it everyday! I want to see results!

  • schubzcrazee

That really takes talent. Who knows…maybe I could pull it off. I look forward to it!

  • LoveSong87

@SohailBahadur Yes, you’re right this is not Sun Salutations. I have this DVD (Yoga Shakti) and I believe this is called “Dancing Warrior One”.

  • SohailBahadur

This is not Suriya Namaskarum (Sun Salutation), Please do not mislead ppl, however the lady doing exercise here is good in her fitness and if she do the real sun salutation (which include 11 poses), would surely be very good.
    thanks

    @TGubbins66
As far as I know it is: layo & bushwacka deep south

  • dieguetti

@ajayjiutube people find their own ways of doing whatever. its the point of freedom. in my opinion.

  • TGubbins66

Great flow. Groovy music (what is that track?) and holy smokes, what a location!

  • taoistcowboy123

I pooped out at 5 minutes but the gentle shoulder articulation was most appreciated.

  • debwardgemini

Shiva is the best! Can’t wait to take her class at Yoga Journal conference in SF this January!!

  • sumirechan9

Oh wow, I love this. Great video!

  • taoistcowboy123

  • fabolishus

That was beautiful – I loved it. Peace

  • vsoraya

    what an ass.. damn

  • teafortara

    Beautiful!

  • psyctor

holy cow… americans sure know how to spice things up. this is the second video of surya namaskar which does not look so. maybe there are variations… hmm.

    amazing salutation nonetheless.

  • fridaworld

You might be interested to know that in Shiva’s DVD and her teachings she does include the mantras as well for the namaskaram – maybe this was a special version for TV?

  • BODYPRACTICE

Among teachers of Hatha, few are better than Shiva Rea. The ease of her asanas flows from within- expressed in every movement and breath.

  • NochnoiDuh

yes, you are right.. the surya namaskara usually includes mantras at the start of each ‘surya namaskara’ when in pranamasana.. but as you know, surya namaskara can be practised on varying levels of awareness, ranging from that of physical exercise in various styles, to a complete ‘sadhana’ which incorporates asana, pranayama, mantra and chakra meditation. but i think shiva rea is more “vinyasa flow yoga” “vinyasa” being used in its broader sense as “breath-synchronised movement”

  • ajayjiutube

This is a great lady – look at the flexibility, look at the seamless motion and stretching.

    BUT
This is not Sun Salutation – this is westernized dancing sequence choreographed copying Yoga postures.

    Where are suyanamaskar mantra’s ?
If mantra’s are not recited with proper OM – this is not surya namaskar.

Good job on maintening physic though !!
